At the Lighthouse workshop, we don’t just build furniture—we craft character. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation, custom-made to suit your space, your style, and your slightly unusual obsession with “just the right shade of rimu.”

That means we work closely with you from the first sketch to the final coat of oil, turning your half-formed idea (or your overly enthusiastic Pinterest board) into something real, functional, and frankly, a bit of a show-off.

We’ve got a soft spot for timber with a past. Reclaimed and recycled native woods like rimu, mataī, tōtara and kauri are our bread and butter—if bread and butter smelled like sawdust (aka “man glitter”) and could survive several generations. That’s not to say we don’t like the exotics or classics like oak, merbau, mahogany, meranti, or dare we say it, some Ozzie jarrah.

All these timbers come with their own quirks, knots, and stories, which we carefully preserve to give every piece that natural, lived-in charm. It’s like giving an old soul a new job… except now it’s a bookshelf.

Of course, it’s not just about good looks. We’re big on sustainability—less landfill, more legacy. By reusing beautiful old timber and designing things to last, we help the planet while giving you something that won’t fall apart faster than an online shopping impulse buy.
