The Lighthouse Team, Trade Division was founded by Mike Peters—better known to his mates as “MikeGyver” (yes, like MacGyver, but with more duct tape and fewer explosions). Mike picked up most of his trade skills from his father, a seasoned builder and handyman with over 40 years of experience and an impressive ability to fix anything with a screwdriver and a strong cuppa.
What started as a relentless streak of home renovation projects (much to his wife’s frustration) eventually turned into something bigger. Mike was constantly renovating, repairing, or “improving” something—usually just as his wife was trying to sit down to relax. Eventually, she gently suggested (read: insisted) that he take his talents elsewhere. So he set out to fix the “WWW”—the Whole Wide World—starting with Wellington.
Armed with an impressive set of power tools, a sense of humour, and a borderline obsession with getting things absolutely perfect, Mike quickly became the go-to guy for everything from leaky taps and squeaky doors to dodgy wiring and tricky accessibility solutions. If it’s broken, bent, or just plain annoying, chances are Mike’s had a go at it—and probably made it better than new (no, we don’t do husbands).
Today, the Lighthouse Team includes a tight-knit crew of trusted tradies and construction partners, all committed to delivering top-quality work without the eye-watering price tag. Whether it’s a quick fix or a full-blown makeover, we’re here to get the job done—with precision, pride, and probably a bad pun or two.
